Nunda Herad, 9/5/1905, page 1
Daniel S. Wilcox of Nunda died at the home of his cousin, George Wilcox, in Woodstock, Monday, Sept. 4, after a brief illness, of complications due to old age. The funeral was held Wednesday, from the Free Methodist church, conducted by Mrs. J.T. Merry, and the burial was in Crystal Lake cemetery, in the family burying grounds.
Deceased has for many years been a familiar figure in Nunda. Born in Bennington county, Vt., July 22, 1827, he came to Algonquin township with his parents in May, 1845, and made his home in that vicinity the greater part of the time until his death. In 1864 he united with the Free Methodist church, and has lived a consistent Christian life. For several terms he served as school director, and was a man of considerable education. He had traveled through the adjacent states, and was well posted on current topics, history, and the geography of his native land. He took great interest in debating societies, and was also superintendent of the Sunday school. He never married, but leaves to mourn his death one sister, Mrs. C.H. Truax of Nunda, and two brothers, Wm. M. of Chicago and H.B. of Nunda, besides many friends who loved him for his many good qualities as a man and neighbor.
