Eliza Ann Helligas was born at Gouvenour, St. Lawrence county, N.Y., May 13, 1850. In the fall of 1854, she with her parents, moved to Algonquin, McHenry County, Ill., and the following spring moved to Grafton township. On July 2, 1868, she was married to S.H. Campbell of Nunda township and to this union was added two daughters--Mildred E. and Gertrude E.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell have made their home continuously in McHenry county, living for the past thirteen years in Crystal Lake, Ill., where Mrs. Campbell died on Dec. 25, 1905, after a brief illness. Mrs. Campbell leaves to mourn her departure a husband, two daughters--Mrs. Mildred E. Williams of Crystal Lake and Mrs. Gertrude Kiltz of Elgin, Ill., an aged mother, Mrs. Eliza Helligas of Crystal Lake, four brothers, Elijah and John of Clarkston, Wash., Albert of Caroll county Iowa, Charles of Belvidere, Ill., two sisters, Mary and Mrs. Charlotte Coon of Crystal Lake, and a large number of relatives and friends.
During her brief illness she was unable to converse with anyone except her husband and with him in only a limited degree, but up the last he was able to interpet her wishess. On Christmas Day she passed away, as it were falling asleep as gently and quietly as a little child.
The services were held at her home in Crystal Lake, Wednesday, Dec. 27, Rev. Herbert J. Cockerill, pastor of Nunda Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Interment was given in the Crystal Lake cemetery.
