A Mother in Israel
Mrs. Najah Beardsley died at her home in Nunda, Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. the cause of her death was cancer, from which she had suffered many years, and from which the most skillful treatment failed to give relief.
The maiden name of deceased was Sarah Penny, and she was born in Connecticut, Nov. 24, 1827. She lost both parents in early childhood and no brothers or sisters survive her. In 1842 she became a resident here, where she has made her home for over fifty years. One sister, Mary Penny, accompanied her here, and died some years ago in the same room which witnessed her departure for the better land. She was married in 1843 to Najah Beardsley, and was the mother of six sons, of whom four survive her: J.E. of Chicago, and F.A. of Turner, who with their families, are expected to be present at the funeral; B.D. of Idaho, who is at present traveling for the Northwestern railroad, and W.A. of Oaksdale, Wash.
Mrs. Beardsley was a faithful and esteemed member of the Baptist church. Two weeks ago last Saturday her sickness took the severer turn which ended in her death. Though a great sufferer she bore all without complaint, patiently looking for her release. Funeral will be held Friday, April 10, from the M.E. church, at 11 o'clock.
